"People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them.
--George Bernard Shaw Mrs. Warren 's Profession, 1893

All my life I have been a creative person. I have drawn, painted, shot photographs and explored the art world since I was a child. At the same time, I had a very ‘mobile' childhood: many schools and many experiences. I learned about people. Always being the ‘new kid' taught me a lot about how to make people feel comfortable around me – it taught me how to make myself a part of any crowd.

In college I started shooting professionally. I paid for my college degree shooting events. By the time I graduated at 23, I had already shot over 700 events and been published worldwide. By the time I was 23, I was also completely burned out. I sold all of my equipment and left photography to get a ‘real job'.

After five years of bad experiences in corporate America , I found myself in a computer job I hated. Luckily, I was fired on my 29 th birthday. It was then that I ‘found' photography again. Ever since then I have been making up for lost time….with a passion! I LOVE IT! College taught me what to do, to keep from getting burned out doing what I love.

These days, I ‘mix it up' a little bit. I still shoot many weddings and events every year, but I also freelance for magazines, show in galleries, shoot portraits and spend a ton of time ‘playing' on the computer with all of the latest programs available for digital photographers. I am passionate. I am enthusiastic. I simply can't get enough photography! Give me a call – I would love to shoot for you!

Also, meet my assistants:

Paul Beezley

Paul is my main wedding assistant - the only person I know personally who has shot more events than I have. He has been shooting since 1991 and we have been covering events together since I started out in 1992. Our shooting styles compliment each other perfectly because we have been shooting together for so long. We are a unstoppable wedding photography team. He is a master of posing traditional and contemporary photos and his specialty is capturing mind-boggling images of wedding cakes.

Casey A. Lee

Casey is my all-around ‘go to guy'. He has assisted me on motorcycle shoots, studio shoots, events and even some location editorial work for publication. He is a loyal friend, passionate nature/floral photographer, phenomenal graphic artist and unbelievable web designer. He is 100% responsible for my web design and also the web design for my wife's business:

L. Scott Wise

Not only is Scott an incredible graphic artist mentor for me (he seems to know more about Photoshop than most authors of Photoshop books!), he also is my main man when I need an assistant for a car or bike shoot. He shares the same passion I have for photography and the enthusiasm I have for shooting all things built for motion.

Donna Shortridge

Donna is a experienced shooter who assists me with weddings. She has a real passion for shooting children and a unique ability to get those hard-to-catch fleeting moments that wedding day memories are made of. She just always seems to be in the right place at the right time.
